The second Meishin Expressway



(1) Traffic congestion of Higashimeihan Expressway becomes still severer?
The second Meishin Expressway (Ise Wangan Expressway) connected with Higashimeihan Expressway in Yokkaichi JCT will connect with Tomei Expressway during the Heisei 16 fiscal year in Toyota JCT last year.
Moreover, around Heisei 20, the second Meishin Expressway will connect with Higashimeihan Expressway in the Kameyama east JCT.
Thus, many vehicles will focus on Higashimeihan Expressway via a new road network from east and west, and the increase in the passing car of 20,000 per day is expected in several years.
(2) Influence which traffic congestion has on an area?
If traffic congestion becomes chronic in Higashimeihan Expressway, many vehicles will flow into local roads including the national highway No. 1 and No. 23.
Of course, causing inconvenience to a life of a local resident will have big influence also on corporate activity.
Moreover, a lot of exhaust gas discharged from traffic congestion vehicles also worsens environment.
(3) Present condition of a building program?
About between Yokkaichi JCT - Komono IC, as for the second Meishin Expressway, the enforcement command (command of the construction which the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issues to the Japan Highway Public Corporation) of construction is issued. However, even an enforcement command is not issued about Komono IC - Kameyama JCT. For this reason, in the Mie section, the future of construction of between this Yokkaichi - Kameyama is opaque.
